About Us

Barbara Higgins & Associates

Established in 1997, Barbara Higgins & Associates offers a selection of artists (from established 'names' to less known but equally talented portraitists), budgets (there is a wide range) and artistic mediums (charcoal, pastel, pencil, watercolour, oils and acrylics).

Artists represented by us include finalists and winners of the Portia Geache Memorial Award, the Alice Bale Art Award, the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize and the Archibald Prize. We represent artists who we consider to be the most talented and consistent in their field.

There has been a strong revival in portraiture in recent years. Stylish commissioned portraits not only enhance the character of a home, boardroom, office or foyer (they are after all original art) but are a unique, striking and thoughtful way to celebrate life's milestones, whether these are birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, education achievements or business success.

Quality portraits capture the essence of an individual—family members, friends or colleagues.

Animals, Houses, Interiors & Commercial Buildings

Our other specialist subjects such as animals and houses have reflected two increasing lifestyle trends.

In Australia we now have a population of over 4 million dogs. This popularity is reflected in a growing number of our clients acknowledging that their treasured pets deserve a well earned place in their collection of family portraits.

The recent appeal of apartment living has seen many of our 'empty nester' clients wishing to preserve precious memories of family life by commissioning paintings of the family home. Popular themes chosen have been house fronts, interiors and gardens.
